Cacao Date Muffin Recipe for Seed Cycling Phase 1 

Cacao Date Muffins for Seed Cycling recipe is refined sugar free and balanced with healthy fats and protein. They are slightly sweet, moist and nutrient dense. Even for kids or people who are not seed cycling, these muffins are a great snack or breakfast on the go idea! We love naturally sweetening our recipes with Medjool dates as they are high in fiber and nutrients such as potassium, calcium and B-vitamins. We also like to specifically add cacao to our Phase 1 recipes as this is the time (the follicular phase of your menstrual cycle) when we often crave chocolate. Did you know Cacao is rich in iron which is depleted during menstruation? Cacao is a wonderful source of magnesium which can also help reduce menstrual cramps. Included is of course our Phase 1 Blend, which is a great source of omega 3s and can help to reduce inflammation. Overall, a delicious treat yet so beneficial – how great is that!

More about the follicular phase and our signature Phase 1 Blend: During the follicular phase you will consume the Phase 1 flax and pumpkin seed blend which contains phytoestrogens. This helps to adapt the body’s estrogen levels by supporting the body to increase or decrease estrogen levels as needed. Flaxseeds in particular contain lignans which bind to estrogen so it can be removed from the body. While pumpkin seeds are high in zinc and is extremely important as it prepares the body for progesterone secretion in the next phase.

Seed Cycle Phase 1 Cacao Date Muffins

 The Follicular Phase 1 Date Cacao Muffin Recipe - Pumpkin Seeds and Flax Seeds INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup rice malt syrup or rapadura sugar (add extra for a sweeter muffin)
  • 1/2 cup raw cacao powder
  • 3 free range eggs
  • 1/3 cup spelt flour or almond meal for gluten free
  • 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 container Phase 1
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup dates, chopped
METHOD
  1.  Preheat oven to 160 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl add all the ingredients and mix until well combined.
  3. Line muffin tins with muffin cup liners, divide the mixture among 14 muffins cups - this will give you the correct seed cycle phase 1 dose. 
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes until passes the skewer test. Store in the refrigerator or freezer.
Note: Consume 1 muffin each day for your daily seed cycling dose for for 14 days of the follicular phase. Enjoy!
