Kylie – August 17, 2021

"I had never heard of seed cycling until about 3 months ago when Mel mentioned it during one of our nutrition sessions. I wasn’t sure how I was going to go as seeds were not something I regularly ate. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and delicious it was! Mel gave great tips in how to combine the seeds into your everyday meals. It made a difference in such within the first month. I had more energy and did not feel as bloated. I’m definitely continuing with it."

I highly recommend seed cycling and I love the subscription so it’s one less thing I have to think about ordering! Adding to my morning smoothie or mixed with some of my favourite yoghurt for dessert is the best way to incorporate into my diet and keep consistent."

To date, there has been no medical research to suggest that seed cycling causes any adverse impact on the body however we always recommend that you speak to your GP or Nutrition Consultant before making any significant changes to your diet or lifestyle. How to Support your Hormones

Seed cycling is a great way to get to the root cause and help balance your hormones, naturally. Combined with seed cycling here are some other ways you can support your body’s innate healing ability.

1. Support Liver Detoxification

Did you know hormones are metabolised and excreted by the liver? By supporting your liver you can help clear hormones and prevent them from recirculating in your bloodstream. One of the best ways to do this is to reduce caffeine and alcohol as well as increasing your intake of substances like turmeric, dandelion, broccoli and leafy greens.

2. Be Aware of Endocrine Disruptors (EDCs)

We are learning more and more about chemical stress and the impact exposure to ingredients in plastics, cleaning products and cosmetic additives have on our body and hormone balance.

EDCs or Endocrine disrupting Chemicals are environmental chemicals that mimic, block or interfere with hormones in the body. They can increase or decrease the levels of hormones in our body by affecting how they are made, broken down or stored in our body.

A few simple things you can do to limit EDCs:

-   Buy organic or wash fruits and vegetables before you eat them.

-   Don’t microwave in plastic food containers.

-   Reduce canned and processed foods.

-   When choosing cosmetics opt for natural products.

3. EFT Tapping to lower cortisol levels

Cortisol is an important hormone that may become imbalanced with stress or illness. Cortisol is secreted by the adrenal glands that lie on top of the kidneys. Stress impacts adrenal function and hormone levels. In fact, stress is at the core of many hormonal imbalances.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is often referred to as ‘tapping’, or emotional acupuncture, without the needles. Tapping is a powerful, evidence-based, stress management tool.

It is a simple exercise performed by tapping your fingertips on specific acupressure points on your face and body. This has a calming effect of the amygdala (the stress centre of the brain) and a reduction in cortisol.

4. Eat more Fibre

Fibre is the primary fuel source of beneficial gut bacteria, promoting the development of a healthy gut microbiome. Great sources of fibre include fruit and vegetables, legumes and wholegrains, almonds, black beans, chia seeds and oats.
